Within our applied research project on new approaches to production planning, a two-day workshop about "AI in Production Scheduling" took place on September 11th and 12th in Walldorf. Participants were able to discuss cutting-edge approaches to site planning and production scheduling. During the workshop, Professor Dr. Martin Grunow and his PhD student Jan-Niklas Dörr gave highly insightful sessions on AI trends in production planning. In further discussions, SAP and TUM discussed opportunities to redefine the limits of what's possible in this field. The workshop was an excellent example of how to bridge the two worlds of industry and academia for a mutually beneficial knowledge exchange and to drive research-driven product innovation. It showed the real-life impact this collaborative innovation brought to life.
