The 28th ELA Doctorate Workshop, organized by the European Logistics Association (ELA), concluded after four days of academic exchange and networking. Held at the Athens University of Economics and Business from June 19 to June 22, 2024, the event provided a platform for doctoral students in logistics research to present their projects, receive feedback, and connect with experts and peers.
A highlight was Christoph Kerscher’s presentation on the SAP@TUM Collaboration project. His talk, “Complexity Reduction Techniques in Vehicle Routing,” focused on using machine learning-based decomposition methods for efficient solutions in real-world routing scenarios. Kerscher’s research, co-authored with Professor Stefan Minner, explores spatial-temporal-demand clustering for solving large-scale vehicle routing problems with time windows. Their publication is available at https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2402.00041.
The ELA Doctorate Workshop continues to be a key event for logistics researchers, providing essential tools, feedback, and networking opportunities to advance their careers and contribute to the field.
